About Us

CNU Ontario is the provincial Chapter of the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU). CNU is North America’s foremost advocate for advanced urban design.

Consistent with our 7-point Directive, CNU Ontario’s mission is to promote and recognize high community & urban design standards in Ontario, with the goal of enhancing urban life and creating more pedestrian-oriented, human-scaled built environments.  Our Directive is based on the principles of New Urbanism as provided in the Charter of the New Urbanism , but adapted to reflect the Ontario context.

After more than 2 years of organization and planning, CNU Ontario was incorporated under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act on July 24, 2013 and became a full CNU Chapter on September 13, 2013

CNU Ontario is organized into four components (Officers, Board Members, Committee Members, Chapter Members), all of whom work and co-ordinate together to fulfill short-term goals and long-term strategies.
